Oxford, MS
The city of Oxford, Mississippi is a bucolic and genteel town, and an ideal location to call home. Situated about seventy miles from Memphis, Tennessee, in the heart of the hills of Mississippi, Oxford is considered the cultural mecca for North Mississippi and the New Southeast. The University and town of Oxford share a symbiotic relationship, as the town melts into the University, and creates an eclectic atmosphere of high culture, vibrant economic growth, and family values. Combined, these elements give residents here a quality of life that is second to none.
Oxford is the home of the University of Mississippi or “Ole Miss” as it affectionately known. Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner called Oxford home as well as author John Grisham, both of whom attended Ole Miss. The University is experiencing a Renaissance, with scholarly pursuits, enrollment, and prestige attracting highly qualified faculty and students from around the world.
The town of Oxford, located in northern Mississippi near Memphis, has 14,497 residents. Oxford's high school students ranked in the 98th percentile for SAT/ACT scores. Oxford was cited by The Washington Post as "cosmopolitan, sophisticated, even trendy," and by USA Today as one of the top six college towns in the nation.
