“The women involved have been a warm light that provides a home like feeling and have always provided us, and especially I, with a cozy environment, open ear, and helpful insight,” says Courtney Metz. Courtney, a scholar from Clinton, Mississippi, majors in Political Science and is pursuing minors in Spanish and German. She is an involved member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, Spanish Club, German Club, Reformed University Fellowship, Global Ambassadors Program, Planet Partners, and Hope for Africa. “The mentors that we have have especially helped me get involved and provided non-stop motivation to get involved on our campus,” Courtney says. She loves studying languages, biking, and reading. After graduation, Courtney plans to pursue a graduate degree in Political Theory. “I aspire to be a professor, however if my path takes me to the United Nations—I won’t be complaining,” Courtney commented when asked about her career goals. “Truly, I just want to, in whatever I do, give a new outlook and a vision of new goals for the people I’m around—whether that’s through teaching students or whatever I just my passions to be useful,” she continued. Metz is excited about the opportunity to give back to the Women’s Council and in the future give students the very honor that she has received. “I hope the sponsors know how much they have been like a second family that encourages us to achieve!”
