Daphne Jeffries

Daphne Jeffries is a sophomore business major.  She attended Oxford High School in Oxford, MS. There she became active in various volunteer services such as tutoring middle school students, and volunteering at the local hospital and nursing home. She has continued to remain active as a member of the Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholarship Program. As a freshman she traveled to New Orleans, LA and Lakeshore, MS with Habitat for Humanity in effort to aid in rebuilding the Gulf Coast after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Besides the beauty of the Ole Miss campus and the wonderful people who make up the university, Daphne credit’s the Ole Miss Women’s Council for her attending Ole Miss. “From the moment I sat down with Ms. Molly and Ms. Becky to be interviewed I was eager to become a part of the program. I could sense the dedication of the OMWC to bringing together such a diverse group of individuals with outstanding abilities, in effort to not only provide them with financial aid but assist them in various aspects throughout their college experience.”

Daphne enjoyed her first year as a OMWC scholar. Everything from the weekly meetings with mentors, dinners, and  occasional outings is an experience to be thankful for. She looks forward to becoming more active in volunteer efforts, getting to know her fellow scholars better, and enjoying the wonderful experiences to come as a OMWC scholar
