Patrick Ayers
Lena Mitchell Marquette Council Scholar

My name is Patrick Ayers, and I am sophomore pre-med major at the University of Mississippi.  As I have told both Mrs. Molly and Mrs. Becky repeatedly, without the Ole Miss Women’s Council intervening in my life, I would not be here attending University of Mississippi.  My experience at Ole Miss thus far has most certainly not been one to ever forget.  The lifelong friends I have met, and the memories I have made are some to be cherished forever.  As many people will tell you, I am an outgoing person who loves to meet new people.  I love to stay physically active, whether it is working out or playing intramural sports.  I firmly believe that a physically fit body is good for both the soul and mind.  I am a very family-oriented person.  Without the help from God and my family, I would not be the person I am today.  I consider myself very blessed to have grown up in such a great atmosphere.  I am currently a volunteer worker in the E.R. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital here in Oxford.  I believe doctors are special people, for day in and day out they must stare into the eyes of those who are hurting and those who are dying.  To let them know that you truly could sometimes be the determining factor between life and death.  Once I finish Ole Miss I plan to attend UM Medical Center in Jackson, MS to pursue a career in pediatrics.  I hope to one day build a strong enough foundation to start my own children’s clinic.  I have always believed that God put me on this earth to help people in any way possible, and I know that the medical field will allow me to do just that.
